Insights from our employees
Even as a child, I was familiar with the name Groz-Beckert. My father was a proud GB employee from 1981 until his retirement in 2012. When we made new acquaintances on vacation, for example, he always liked to explain what Groz-Beckert did and pulled a fine hosiery needle out of his wallet. Even as a primary school student, I knew that the tongue of this needle opens and closes up to 120 times per second. My first day at Groz-Beckert was in 1999 as a vacation jobber in needle production. Four years later, I decided to study mechanical engineering at Groz-Beckert, which was my official start here.
Immediately after graduating, I was given the opportunity to work for three years as a project engineer in the mechanical engineering department at the Czech plant in Budweis as part of a foreign assignment. Looking back, this was a very enriching time for us as a young family, and one that we look back on fondly. Other exciting stations in Albstadt followed. From project engineer in mechanical engineering to head of quality assurance in mechanical engineering to head of assembly in mechanical engineering. Since 2023, I have been the head of the machine and tool construction department. Here we are responsible for supplying the Groz-Beckert production companies around the world with spare parts, tools, assemblies and machines.

Project Manager
I work at Groz-Beckert as a project manager in the area of predictive analytics. I work with a cross-functional team on a daily basis. I find both the topics and the composition of the team really exciting and varied. My colleagues have been very welcoming right from the start, which has meant that good, efficient cooperation has been a matter of course right from the start.
As a full-time working mother, suitable accommodation for my two children is the most important prerequisite for me to be able to devote myself to my work without any worries. Groz-Beckert has its own day nursery and primary school on the company premises, where the children are looked after with all the "bells and whistles". I'm not taking advantage of this offer at the moment because I found a suitable place for my little ones before I joined the company. But we may take advantage of the great infrastructure in the future. In addition to suitable accommodation, the relatively flexible working hours create the necessary conditions for reconciling family and career.
Area Sales Manager
As an Area Sales Manager at Groz-Beckert, I do a lot of international sales travel. When I started, the induction programme was really great. Step by step, the programme introduced me to my area of responsibility and helped me to get to know the company, my colleagues and business partners. This positive feeling is still with me today. The reasons for this are the great working atmosphere, the good mood in the team and, of course, my exciting and challenging job. Among other things, I am responsible for supporting, developing and expanding sales in the regions assigned to me.
Having grown up abroad, I speak fluent English, French and Arabic as well as German, which is very helpful when working with our global customers. At Groz-Beckert, all employees have the opportunity to take part in internal language courses and further training. This was also very useful for me at the beginning of my time with the company to broaden my professional knowledge.
Head of Needle Production
Since I joined the company in 2007, Groz-Beckert has continued to develop, investing in new production facilities at home and abroad, as well as a large technology and development centre. These developments have provided a great foundation for my professional and personal development. I started my career with the company as a combined student and have spent a lot of time abroad in recent years.
One of the highlights was my time in the USA, where I spent two years at a Groz-Beckert location in a management position in the areas of production and mechanical engineering. Since 2019, I have been a production area manager in mechanical engineering in parts production, facing new challenges every day with a team of around 80 employees. The size of Groz-Beckert is particularly helpful when it comes to solving problems. It makes it possible to involve contacts outside the team in projects. At the beginning of 2021, a new phase began for me when I took over the management of our Belgian plant in Deerljik. I have been Head of Needle Production at the Albstadt location since September 2023.
Machine Setter and Operator
At Groz-Beckert, a completely new professional perspective opened up for me as a setter and operator of machines for needle production. As a trained window maker, I had no contact whatsoever with the industry and my current field of activity until I joined Groz-Beckert. But thanks to internal training and further education to become a specialist in metal technology, I quickly found my feet. Among other things, my colleagues and managers have made a great contribution to this with their willingness to help.
What I like about my job is that no two days are the same. Different steps have to be taken for each type of needle in the large product range, and when new products are introduced, sometimes entire sub-processes have to be adapted.
Despite the shift work, my working hours at Groz-Beckert are relatively regular. This means that there is always enough time to plan a weekend away, or to take a trip to nearby Lake Constance or the Danube Valley.
Group Manager for Maintenance
Groz-Beckert has been my professional companion for more than ten years. I started at the company with an apprenticeship as a mechatronics engineer. A short time later, I continued my training to become a technician. At that point I decided to do the technician course full-time and left the company for a while.
What was particularly nice during this time was that Groz-Beckert always kept in touch with me and had an interesting job for me when I finished. Not only during my training, but also during my time as a trainee and employee, I found Groz-Beckert to be a very appreciative and cooperative company. It was therefore not difficult for me to decide to return to Groz-Beckert after my apprenticeship. I now work as a group leader in maintenance. I am responsible for planning, implementing and optimising a wide range of maintenance and servicing activities. I also find issues relating to the further development of the department and its employees very exciting.
Groz-Beckert really has a lot to offer in terms of fringe benefits. The health and education centre is particularly important to me. After an accident, I was able to get back on my feet quickly thanks to the company's own physiotherapists and subsequent training in the gym.
Development Engineer
After training as an industrial mechanic and studying mechanical engineering as part of a combined degree course at a leading manufacturer of flat knitting machines, I have been working at Groz-Beckert KG since the beginning of 2017.
Initially, I worked as a design engineer in the knitting product area, and now I am a development engineer in the same area. In the team, we develop components for knitting and hosiery machines, among other things. We work on projects from the first draft to series production and support our application engineers in finding technical solutions. The wide range of tasks involved in project work can be a real challenge. But it is these challenging days that I really enjoy!
To balance out the daily grind, I like to go running and mountain biking in the beautiful countryside around Albstadt. Groz-Beckert is the ideal employer for me, not only because of my interest in textile topics, but also because of the spirit of partnership that is lived in the company.
Service Technician
In 2017, my path led me from North Rhine-Westphalia to Groz-Beckert on the Alb. After just two years, I can look back on countless exciting service assignments with customers at home and abroad. In addition to general customer service tasks, I particularly enjoy commissioning our machines at the customer's premises.
On the one hand, I am responsible for the installation of the machine, and on the other hand, I familiarise the customer with the technology on site. Of course, my job means that I'm on the road a lot and often alone. But thanks to the close and good cooperation with my team, it's always nice to be able to help customers quickly with their problems.
When I'm on site in Albstadt, I like to go to the Groz-Beckert fitness studio after work or enjoy the winding roads of the Swabian Alb on my motorbike. Swabia and Groz-Beckert have become my new home. And even though the Swabian dialect of my colleagues sometimes takes a little getting used to, I feel very much at home here. But for me, a "Weckle" is and always will be a roll!
Quality and Production Technician
I started as an apprentice at Groz-Beckert in 1991. My most exciting time so far was from 2004 to 2010 at our Indian subsidiary in Chandigarh. This is where I lived and worked as an expatriate with my family. The intercultural experience I gained there was a great asset to my career and continues to benefit me today. In my daily work I check the manufacturing aspects of new developments and accompany new needle types from development to series production from a quality perspective. I am still fascinated by the precision that is required every day in needle production when we start to split the mµ, to use a good Swabian expression.
For me, Groz-Beckert is a future-oriented and stable company with prospects beyond the borders of Germany. The opportunity for in-house training, taking on responsibility and a particularly friendly atmosphere in many areas are just some of the things I really appreciate about Groz-Beckert.
On top of that, we live in a region where others go on holiday. I enjoy cycling, spending time with my children and working in my own garden.
