In 2011, to deal with this situation, Groz-Beckert established a total of three decentralized sewing laboratories. Alongside the Competence Center Sewing in the Technology and Development Center (TEZ), where everything comes together in the research and development sector, sites in India, Singapore and Sri Lanka now offer sewing and joining related services of the very highest standard. As part of a "basic service", Groz-Beckert offers its customers problem analyses, thorough examinations and an examination report that also includes needle recommendations. The "advanced service" also comprises photographic documentation and statistically proven test results. As part of "customer-specific service", the extent of testing and the methods used are defined and calculated according to individual customer demand.

TEZ and synergies
The sewing laboratories in India, Singapore and Sri Lanka are all equipped with an extensive machine park. Additional machines and plants are located at the Competence Center Sewing in the TEZ – including multi-head embroidery and alternative joining methods. In addition to classic applications consulting, the service team concentrates here on product development and basic research. The range of services is rounded off by complaints processing, field tests and on-the-spot problem solving – and even high-speed recordings can be realized.
The integration of the Competence Center Sewing into the TEZ is enabling synergies in all the development sectors of textile surface production, e.g. knitting and weaving. Close cooperation with partners from the mechanical engineering sector make it possible for the machine park to be rapidly adapted to test requirements by means of loaned items. The Competence Center in Albstadt also functions as a center of training and as a scientific base for employees from external laboratories who come here regularly for advanced training courses.
